Whats the rubber pipe that goes to a yamaha aerox 50 exhaust for?

On the original exhast there is a rubber pipe that is attached and like a plastic box, what is this for? thanks in advance!
*exhaust….my bad :) gabe502000…i got an after market exhaust fitted and the garage that did it simply disconnected the pipe from the exhaust and put a bolt in the end. this won’t cause any problems will it?

It sound like a cross over. If it attaches to both pipes it is to increase compression giving you more horsepower.

how to drill exhaust on a yamaha road star?

  3. It serves the same purpose as the "Smog Pump" on your car, injecting pulses of air into the catalyst in your exhaust, helping it to get hot enough to burn unwanted pollutants.
