Can you install a turbo in a Yamaha 07 R1 with a full exhaust system?

I got a 07 R1 with a full Akrapovic Evo Exhaust system, can a turbo be installed to it with out taking away the exhaust system?

You CAN cut it in…but why? I saw the commuter space shuttle will start operating soon. Are you trying to beat them to the moon?

How much can i sell my 06 Yamaha R6 Stock Exhaust for?

  1. No. The exhaust gasses have to run through the turbo somewhere along the line….

  2. Full race exhaust systems don’t cater for the possibility of adding a turbo – because no race series allow turbochargers – a bit of pipe butchery will be required.

  6. when you install a turbo, the exhaust is used to spin the turbo. after the exhaust is used to spin thee turbo it is dumped out a short pipe. it would not make sense to put any restriction on that dump, as it would put back pressure on the turbo slowing it down and messing with the air plenum pressure (the entire point of turbo). if your going to spend a few grand on the turbo, have it installed by a shop that does turbos. first time turbos diy tend to blow up bikes.

turbo can be a fun way to get more power.

  7. No, why do you want to do this. Unless you are making a drag bike, you will regret the added expense. be ready to blow your engine, take that into account.
