1973 Honda CB500 four with open exhaust

Idle and rev with new Mac exhaust (baffle removed) and Dyna Ignition. Other mods include 550cc pistons, Web street camshaft, and high performance valve springs. Seems to run good with baffles in with just the stock jets…It runs a little rough with the baffles out but would probably be okay if I put in one size larger jets.

okay…so what did you do? you cut the mufflers off the stock exhaust system? Adding back pressure isn’t a good thing if you’re concerned with the performance. Sounds like you might have an overly rich mixture at WOT. First start by checking the timing and making sure it’s set to the proper advance…if it is you might bump it up a degree or two. If that still doesn’t do anything, then you’ll have to start messing around with different sized jets.

Haha, that would be a fun project…I’d recommend the 750 four motor for a dune buggy project, though. A little more horsepower and more available go-fast parts. I’ve got a 96 civic and when I do an engine swap I want to take the engine that’s in it currently and make a fun little tube-framed street car.
