exhaust i have does not have o2 sensor bungs
You can order O2 sensor fittings and have them welded onto another set of pipes. It will also depend on what year the other system is off of. If you change the exhaust, you can get away without remapping the ijection, but if you add an air cleaner of any type, you HAVE to have the injection remapped….I would HIGHLY recommend the Screamin Eagle Super Tuner PROPERLY set-up on a dyno.
Obviously "lil thumper" doesn’t know jack about HD’s….you CAN NOT disconnect O2 sensors on you bike!!!….IT IS FUEL INJECTED not carbed….so…IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO REJET IT!!!!……also, 07-08 bikes, Power Commander does make an O2 sensor eliminator, but it is not possible to eliminate them on 09-up. Not only that, you don’t want to eliminate them!!!……the O2 sensors are there to help with performance and fuel economy when running in closed-loop mode during steady cruising speed. THEY ARE THERE FOR A REASON!!!!!
ALSO…..STRAIGHT pipes are the WORST thing you can add to your bike!!! Straight pipes WILL cause a loss in power!!!….you will lose about 15-20% of your mid-range hp & torque…..this is the rpm range in which you spen MOST of your riding time and wehre you NEED the power the most!!!
Lil Thumper obviously doesn’t know much…..If he doesn’t know these simple FACTS, I highly doubt he a actually building choppers, if he is, I feel SORRY for anyone who buys one.
EDIT: I stand corrected…..SHE doesn’t know much!!!
By the way, 42yo, riding since 4, first HD at 16. first NEW HD at 18, working on them since 19 (professionally since 22) with numerous ground-up builds including 2 Best-Of-Show winners

I have a Harley Davidson Road King classic 2001 that it has Magneti-Marelli FI. Only mods. are screaming eagle slip on mufflers, Arlen Ness big sucker2 air cleaner kit, and Arlen Ness big shot fuel tuner. I programed the tuner, seems to run best on the preset map settings already loaded. However, when I accelerate hard then let off and let motor idle down, every so often the exhaust pops. It is a loud pop, not the normal kackle. It is not a cough or sneeze through the breather. What could be causing this? I have tried the program in several modes but they all do this. Have also tried less fuel. I do not have an exhaust leek.
ACTUALLY…….exhaust backfire on decel can be caused by lean OR rich!!!!….USUALLY on injection, it’s caused by rich (too much gas at 0% throttle position) , carbs by rich also ( high manifold vacuum pulling too much fuel through the idle ports), although, too lean can cause this also (lean mis-fire leading to raw fuel through the exhaust that get ignited by internal pipe heat and cold air from exhaust reversion hitting each other), it has alot to to with the total engine combination, exhaust length and diameter and cam overlap and igniton timing.
I don’t mean to sound insulting, but you WASTED your money on the Ness Fuel controller, you SHOULD have gotten a Power Commander….ALWAYS go with products from a campany that SPECIALIZES in what they sell!!!….Power Commander III USB with Acellerator Pump Feature is the industry standard (for almost everything except HD Delphi, PC 5 with wide band O2 sensors for Delphi), even better, is HD’s Super Tuner (for the newer Delphi System). With a Power Commander and a DYNO, you can dial in the injection PERFECTLY….with your situation, lean out the air/fuel ratio at 0% throttle from 1000-3000 rpm (approx, each engine is individual).
The best thing I can tell you to try is to lean out the LOW RANGE one step at a time until the exhausti popping stops. If it won’t stop by leaning it out, you may have the rare case of actually being too lean as Adam said, try richening one step at a time….but I will lay odds on the fact that you are actually rich….HD’s Super Tuner has a feature to lean out the a/f ratio at an already predetermined rpm range and throttle position, on the Power Commander, you have to manually change each cell of the map individually.
ALSO….EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!!!……..
In order for ANY adjustments to be CORRECT, you will HAVE to verify not only no exhuast leaks( as you state you don’t have), you MUST verify no INTAKE leaks…AND….you MUST have the THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR "ZEROED"!!!!!!!……unfortunately HD is the best place for the TPS….they can do it in a matter of a few minutes….it REQUIRES special equipment.

To foxy foxy: Motorcycles don’t have catalytic converters. Don’t offer advice if you don’t know what you are talking about.

2004 Harley Road King Custom. I put on a Rinehart True Duel exhaust system. Now I get some popping when I let off on the throttle. Sounds cool but I need to sell it and want to stop it from happening.
I will assume you boght the Rinehart system from your HD delaership. If so then they would have re-mapped the engine to accept this exhaust system and your bike would have been all set up to function perfectly when you took it out of the service department….I assume this is what yo are refering too when you say….change computer settings……Nothing for you to do unless you remove the Rineharts and are going to re-install the original manufacturers pipes….THe poppiing sound is always there with HD scooters when you let off on the throttle it is just not discenrable on stock exhaust but once you go to an aftermarket one like your RIneharts/Samsons/BuB/Vance adn Hines etc then since the exhaust is that much louder then you will also here the slight popping-backfiring when you ease up o the throttle..You new buyer should be aware of that and if not then enlighten him of it

I meant to type "who makes the best pipes"
Best Pipes Reinhart or Hard Krome, go with the full exhaust it gets rid of the cross over pipe.

whats the resale value of the stock exhaust pipes and mufflers and mounting brackets for 2005 sportster 883 low
less than 15 miles use. with no scratches
The best bet is to hang on to them. Hang out at swap meets and with other riders. You can always trade them for something you want or someone may need them in a pinch. Generally nobody would want a stock pipes. They generally are one of the first things to get replaced. So cash value is next to nothing. Trade value can be more when a goober thinks he is getting more out of a trade.

i want to know if Those pipes have baffles i can take out or are they permanent. How much louder is the bike going to be with out baffle and is there performance gains thanks.
I’m positive you meant to say eagle, dam e is far to close to the w , The bike is going to be a lot louder, but I doubt very much if you would get any performance gains. you may lose some…happy typing
P.S. Mushki I don’t think that is what the man asked did he ask to hear the rattle of an empty headed mushki no , he has a genuine question regarding care and performance.

will Adding true duels to it hurt or interfear with the Factory ignition and fuel settings? curintly is front into 1 and the rear is into 2 pipes.
yes it will hurt it, believe it or not the 2 into 1 gives you more power in this case. If you change it, it will need to be dyno’d for carb adjustments.

I have a 2001 HD Road King. What are the pros & cons on 2 into 1exhaust , compaired to True Dual Exhaust? Does it increase torque, horse power?? Experienced replies encouraged.
The 2-1 exhausts like the Thunderheader or the Hooker Header produce the most H.P. of the pipes available. Both torque and H.P. are increased. I run the Hooker because it has a feature that is pretty cool, adjustable back pressure. What this does is allow you to tailor the tuning to the way you ride. P.S keep in mind you’ll need to play with jetting/ computor to adjust the fuel mixture to match the pipe.
