I rode this motorcycle for 160 miles this past Saturday (2 days ago) and it ran like a top! Now, after leaving it out in the rain overnight, it doesn’t run for crap. It runs somewhat good at mid-high RPM’s, but won’t idle at all. I started it with the choke (like usual) with no problems. I just now rode it for 6 miles, and it didn’t clear up (figuring maybe it was moisture) and it backfires like crazy out the exhaust AND carb… it’s a 1980 Yamaha SR250. Any ideas????? I’m baffled at this one…
I drove it back from where I was just now, and it ran much better with the choke half-on… it still back-fired thru the carb though, and idled way high… prob from the choke… but it still ran like crap when i took the choke off…
Keep in mind, 2 days ago it ran great for 160 miles…
I`ve had this once or twice from leaving a bike out in rain whilst drunk etc. - go buy a bottle of methylated spirits and pour half in your tank. The alcohol will mix with the water and be burnt in the combustion process.I grew up in a semi dessert climate where condensation was a problem in fuel - every couple of months you did the metho trick and never had any trouble.

I have a 1993 Harley Davidson Softail Custom. I found screamin’ eagle pipes for a 1986 and up Harley Davidson Softail Heritage. I’m trying to find out if these pipes are compatible on my bike. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks.
They SHOULD work just fine, the Customs & Heritages use the same header and brackets, it’s just the mufflers that were different. Are the pipes on-line? Can you send a link so I could see them, just to be sure?
The older Screamin Eagle pipes were not that great for performance, they sound ok, but the baffle design isn’t much better than stock. You would actually get better sound and performance out of a simple set of Cycle Shack pipes from Drag Specialties.

I found a video of this exhaust on youtube and am trying to find where I can buy it. I’ve checked as much as I could on the internet, including ebay. If anyone knows please let me know I want to buy this!
Have you tried their website?

I looked forever in the Vance & Hines catalog but wasn’t able to find any longshots for your particular ride. A little word of advice, if you do find somewhere that sells Vance & Hines Longshots you’d be MUCH better off getting the "BIGSHOTS" instead. They are a little more money but here is the "big" difference—>the LONGSHOTS are 2 individual pipes from the engine to the tips,,,the BIGSHOTS look identical "except" there is a "crossover" near the rear of the system (not seen unless you were bent down looking between the pipes). The reason for that crossover is to give you the performance of a 2-in-1 system but with a 2-in-2 look and sound. I have this system on my ‘89 Harley FLHTC (Dresser) and if you find it for your bike i highly recommend the BIGSHOTS. Another thing to check is any difference between your Spirit and maybe the Aero or Ace, regarding their exhaust. If its all the same then maybe you should look under those 2 models for your Vance & Hines also,,,,good luck

Will any exhaust slip on fit on any year bike i have a gold micron and wanna change it to a twin brothers and i see on eBay they sometime go pretty cheap but there for different year of bike and/or different model
Short answer: No, those bikes are not interchangeable. From what I understand, the ZX6R is compatible with my Yamaha YZF600R. But, because my bike is NOT compatible with either the R1 or the R6, logic says that you’re bike won’t be either.
If you can find a Kawasaki-specific message board or forum, you may be able to ask around to find out exactly what bikes ARE compatible with yours.
However, any exhaust is compatible with any bike with some modification

Thinking about changing the pipes on my Yamaha. I heard you have to change the fuel managemment and the air intake. Is the air intake a must?
Its not a must, but it is recommended if you’re looking to get better performance. It all adds up as a package

I am in the process of rebuilding my ‘78 Yamaha XS 750S, and am trying to clean up my exhaust pipes. I considered buying new ones or even bending my own, but I decided for the time being I am just going to clean up the old ones. The pipes have gotten hot enough enough times to create a rainbow-like finish. What are the best mothods and products for doing this?
The absolute best product is called " Blue Job" ***** Not Blue Away (that shyt is sand paper in a bottle****
Some shops and most catalogs carry blue job.
It requires a fair amount of rubbing , but it’s the only product that works w/o damaging the chrome.
Do Not Use Steel Wool OR Scotch Brite Pads, they scratch doing permanent damage.

Wanted to drill into my exhaust on my 2008 yamaha Road Star Silverado S but don’t know how to do it. I hear it helps the sound of the pipes and doesn’t have any negative effects on the bike.. was wondering how true this was as well. So does anybody know where I Can figure out how to drill the holes?
well me and my dad drilled his pipes on his yamaha v-star,,we drilled holed around the baffle and it sounds great now..look it up on youtube.
